About Us

Brentwood Lions was formed in 1974, so for more then 30 years has been actively organizing events to raise funds to support charities, locally, and sometimes nationally and internationally, local community projects and other deserving causes. Most of you will know us for our Christmas Collections, but we organise a number of other fund raising activities, a Charity Golf Day, Quiz Night and Stock Donkey Derby to name a few.

Come And Meet Us

The Club meets on the second Tuesday of every month for a fellowship dinner, and on the fourth Tuesday to discuss business. Prospective members and visitors are always welcome to join us.

Membership

The Club currently has 17 members who all work very hard and co-operate to raise the funds which allow us to support worthy causes. However, the old saying many hands make light work is very often true, so we are always looking to attract new members. When Brentwood Lions was formed in 1974 it was incorporated as a male club and membership has remained male since.

Other Local Clubs

Chelmsford and Billericay have remained all male clubs although Chelmsford has an associated Lioness Club. Wickford which recently merged with Basildon is a mixed Club. South Woodham Ferrers and Thurrock are other nearby mixed clubs.

What Does Being A Lion Involve

It involves being involved and committed. Being part of a team that attends Club meetings and join the committees that plan our fund-raising events, and then be involved and committed to making them happen. It means giving up some of your time and a little effort to help others.

Social

It’s not all hard work! The Club also promotes the Lions ethos of fellowship both within our Club and with other Lions and Service clubs. We organise a number of social events each year, including BBQ’s, wine tasting and week-ends away with partners, all of which are very enjoyable. Part of our regular Club activity is a monthly dinner meeting that is held as a social activity to promote fellowship within the Club. Partners and speakers are invited to some dinner meeting to further promote fellowship and friendship.
